PETALUMA, CA - The WeatherTRAK smart irrigation controller line HydroPoint Data Systems, Inc. achieved the first-ever perfect scores on the Irrigation Association's (IA) Smart Water Application Technology (SWAT) performance test, as WeatherTRAK-enabled controllers from HydroPoint, Toro and Irritrol all scored 100%.
The SWAT protocol evaluates the ability of smart controllers to irrigate “virtual” test landscapes. Daily weather changes are simulated based on evapotranspiration data, and after initial programming and calibrating, the controllers are expected to perform without further intervention during the month-long test period. SWAT performance results measure the degree to which smart controllers maintain root zone moisture levels within an acceptable range. Controllers are evaluated for both irrigation adequacy and irrigation excess.
“WeatherTRAK’s perfect scores on the SWAT test set yet another bar of achievement for our industry in protecting landscape investments and maximizing water bill savings,” said Chris Spain, president and CEO of HydroPoint.
