Petaluma startup HydroPoint Data Systems, which makes computer-controlled irrigation systems, announced a deal Wednesday to sell its technology to apartment and condominium developments throughout the United States.
HydroPoint's WeatherTRAK system will be marketed and installed by NWP Services Corp., an Irvine company that provides management services to 3,400 multifamily properties in 42 states.
Privately held HydroPoint declined to disclose the deal's value.
HydroPoint's water-saving technology uses daily weather reports, downloaded from satellites, to run automatic sprinkler systems. The data is radioed to on-site irrigation controllers.
Founded in 2002, HydroPoint has 45 employees worldwide, including 35 at its headquarters in Petaluma. The company expects to add about five more employees by year's end.
