LAKE ARROWHEAD COMMUNITY SERVICES DISTRICT IMPLEMENTS WEATHERTRAK IRRIGATION MANAGEMENT SOLUTION TO CONSERVE WATER

Petaluma, Calif., April 26, 2004 - HydroPoint Data Systems, the leading provider of ET-based irrigation management solutions, announced today that the Lake Arrowhead Community Services District (LACSD) is implementing HydroPoint’s WeatherTRAK ET controllers and WeatherTRAK ET Everywhere data service to reduce landscape water consumption.

“Lake Arrowhead experienced below average precipitation for five out of the last six years, compounding our water supply challenges. Recognizing that we needed an irrigation solution that had proven its effectiveness in reducing water usage, we chose WeatherTRAK,” said Marc Lippert, Water Conservation Coordinator, LACSD.

HydroPoint’s WeatherTRAK solution provides customers with a simple approach to smart irrigation, eliminating the expensive and wasteful practice of landscape over-watering. The WeatherTRAK ET controller creates a custom irrigation schedule for each landscape, based on plant type, soil type, sun exposure and slope. Irrigation adjustments are automatically triggered as the controller receives daily local weather station data via the WeatherTRAK ET Everywhere data service. HydroPoint’s customer service organization proactively works with customers to ensure that they receive optimal performance from their WeatherTRAK solutions.

Seventy-six WeatherTRAK ET controllers are currently being installed by contractors who received training through HydroPoint’s training and certification program in collaboration with LACSD. Installations will be completed in time for the region’s dry spring and summer seasons. In the region’s wetter fall and winter seasons, when many of the community’s vacation homeowners have left the area, the WeatherTRAK ET controllers will automatically reduce and ultimately stop irrigating landscapes.

Working with Meena Westford of the United States Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, LACSD received grant funding for its community-wide program to distribute WeatherTRAK ET controllers to Lake Arrowhead residents. LACSD expects to achieve significant water savings with the WeatherTRAK solution, which has reduced outdoor water usage by as much as 59% in studies conducted over the past five years across the western United States.
“LACSD has worked hard to educate Lake Arrowhead residents about water usage. We are pleased to join forces with LACSD in achieving their water conservation goals with the WeatherTRAK solution,” said Tom Ash, Director of Conservation Alliances, HydroPoint.
