HYDROPOINT INTRODUCES WEATHERTRAK ET PLUS 24-STATION CONTROLLER

Tested and Proven Smart Controller Simplifies Irrigation Management and Automates Conservation

Petaluma, Calif., March 2, 2005 - HydroPoint Data Systems, Inc., the leading provider of smart irrigation management solutions, today introduced the WeatherTRAK® ET plus 24-station controller. By doubling the station count capability of the popular WeatherTRAK ET plus controller, HydroPoint has equipped the solution to address a broader range of commercial and residential landscape applications. Now available in 9, 12, 18 and 24 station models, ET plus is ideal for even the most challenging landscapes because the proven solution automates irrigation according to site-specific characteristics and changing local weather.

Like all WeatherTRAK irrigation management solutions, the WeatherTRAK ET plus 24-station model comprises fully integrated irrigation Scheduling Engine software, innovative WeatherTRAK ET Everywhere service and proactive HydroPoint Cus tomer Service. The WeatherTRAK combination of market-leading technologies and services is proven in nearly ten years of independent field study to significantly reduce outdoor water consumption, minimize harmful runoff and improve plant health.

The built-in Scheduling Engine™, unique to WeatherTRAK, automatically generates accurate irrigation programs for up to 24 stations of a landscape, based on user-entered parameters such as plant type, soil type, root depth, slope angle, sun exposure and sprinkler type. Daily evapotranspiration (ET) values then trigger dynamic adjustments as warranted by local weather conditions.

HydroPoint’s WeatherTRAK ET Everywhere® service collects weather data from more than 14,000 weather stations, including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) network. Proven scientific modeling validates local weather data to one square kilometer for every neighborhood in the U.S. before updates are transmitted to ET plus controllers. No sensors or other special equipment are required.

The WeatherTRAK ET plus solution includes world-class assistance from HydroPoint Customer Service, which provides continuous support from initial installation and service activation through ongoing operation. HydroPoint’s team of horticulture and irrigation experts ensures that ET plus always provides peak performance to maximize landscape health and beauty. Help is just a phone call or mouse click away for contractors and end users alike.

“WeatherTRAK is the best product on the shelf. My customers have reduced water use by 33%,” said John Seaver of Albuquerque, NM-based Just Sprinklers.

The WeatherTRAK ET plus 24-station controller provides numerous features common to commercial controllers, such as a one-touch copy program button, 6kV surge protection and automated cycle, soak and run times. New features that facilitate irrigation system maintenance include a station wiring test that checks for shorted or disconnected valves. If a fault is detected, the controller displays an alert that identifies the problem and the affected valve.

WeatherTRAK ET plus also supports user-defined water windows with watering carry-over as well as user-programmed modes for new landscapes and cus tom schedules, either with or without ET. To meet municipal watering restrictions and cus tomer requirements, ET plus provides comprehensive water day options.

“HydroPoint continues to innovate to meet market demand for smart irrigation solutions that reliably improve plant health while they conserve water, cut costs and save time,” said Chris Spain, President and CEO of HydroPoint.

The WeatherTRAK product line is proven to yield water savings of greater than 50%, achieve as much as 95% of potential water savings and demonstrably improve plant health in independent, multiyear studies by water districts and agencies. Based on the successful performance of the WeatherTRAK controller line in these studies, the WeatherTRAK ET plus 24-station controller is eligible for all smart controller rebate and voucher programs in Arizona, California, Nevada and Washington state. By subsidizing the cost of the WeatherTRAK solution, these programs accelerate return on investment for contractors and end users.
